Dave's Market Update & Pick of the Week - White Seedless Grapes - 29 November 2023
Dave's Market Update
In Fruit
“Stone fruit continues to improve every week. We now have really good imperfect yellow peaches in store that are delicious to eat. Grapes are really coming good at this stage the white seedless are a far better eating option than the reds. Cherries continue to be our main fruit line and we will have a red-hot deal for our customers this weekend.
Mangoes are still difficult and again I would recommend Honey Golds for the best eating experience. Lemons are suddenly a bit harder to find and dearer, look at a net or imperfect option at this stage.
In Veg
Great snacking tomato specials in all stores. Sugar plums in Sydney and Sweet Delights in Queensland.
Shallots, rhubarb and asparagus are all well priced and Sydney will have a very cheap cup mushroom special this week. Iceberg lettuce is still top quality and inexpensive and nothing is especially dear.”

Dave's Pick of the Week
"My Pick this week is White Seedless grapes.
This week looks like a really good one for grapes. The quality for this early in the season is great. The white seedless are far superior to the reds which are a later grape, so nothing surprising there. Most of the grapes now come from the Emerald district and the best eating variety is the Sweet Globes.
In around ten days, we will transition to Ivories and shortly after Menindee seedless. They are not as uniformly shaped as the later fruit from down South, however that is quite irrelevant to how they eat. These are fantastic and increased supply means an excellent price in all HFM stores this week.”

When buying grapes, choose firm, plump clusters that are securely attached to their stems. Stems should be green and fresh. Check for the silvery coating or natural bloom that protects the fruit’s freshness.
